Strong South-Westerly Wind Tests Riders in Ystwyth CC Round 3
Riders faced a challenging evening at the third round of the Ystwyth CC time trial series on the Llety Gwyn 10 course, with a persistent south-westerly wind gusting at around 35km/h adding a significant test of strength and pacing.
Despite the tough conditions, Ieuan Andrew Davies delivered an impressive ride to take the win, stopping the clock in a swift 23:10. His performance stood out on a night where maintaining speed into the headwind required both power and determination.
Kristian Bond (R) secured second place with a strong 24:41, riding consistently well across the exposed sections of the course. Further back, Anita Saycell recorded a solid 29:27, narrowly edging David Bond (R), who followed closely with 29:31 in a tight finish between the pair.
The blustery conditions made for a true sporting challenge, with riders having to judge effort carefully on both sheltered and exposed stretches of the route.
A big thank you goes to the timekeepers and marshals who ensured the evening ran smoothly:
- Timekeepers: Andy Hunt & Derek Rattray
- Marshals: Nathan Daverson & Glyn Williams
Attention now turns to Round 4, which returns to the rolling Cwm Rheidol course on 17th June, where riders will once again test their form on a very different profile.
With conditions playing such a decisive role this week, Round 3 proved to be a memorable test of resilience—and sets the tone for the rest of the series as riders look ahead to the next challenge.
