Record-Breaking Speeds in Round 14 of Ystwyth CC Time Trial Series
Llety Gwyn 10 – 6th August 2025
It was a blisteringly fast night at Round 14 of the Ystwyth CC / Catalina Architecture Time Trials series, as riders made the most of the favourable conditions on the Llety Gwyn 10-mile course.
The headline of the night was a new senior men’s first claim club record set by Andrew Gittins, who flew around the course in an astonishing 21 minutes and 8 seconds, slicing through the evening air with power and precision.
Close behind, Caron Pugh on his road bike, clocked a superb 22:31, showing excellent late-season form. There were more strong performances from Andy Hunt (24:14), Kristian Bond (24:39), and Paul Brewer (24:45) – all finishing within seconds of one another in a tightly contested midfield.
Among the standout rides were those from the veteran categories. Both V70 and V60 riders came tantalisingly close to club records, demonstrating that age is no barrier to speed. Though just outside the official marks, their times added to the excitement of the evening and hinted at records under threat in future rounds.
Lois Brewer delivered a solid ride to finish in 25:47, followed by David Bond (28:02) and Martin Williams (29:48) – rounding off a night where every rider finished under the 30-minute mark.
Special thanks go to marshalls Anita Saycell and Chris Ware, and to timekeepers Derek Rattray and Elaine Rowlands.
