Tailwind Out, Tougher on the Return: Pugh and Palfrey Lead the Way in Round 9
July 2, 2025 – Ystwyth CC Time Trial Series
Riders benefitted from a helpful tailwind on the outward leg of Round 9 of the Catalina Architecture Ystwyth CC Time Trial Series, but faced slightly tougher conditions on the return stretch as a headwind made pacing more challenging on the way back.
Caron Pugh took the win with a commanding ride, finishing in 22:03. In only his second time trial, Andrew Gittins impressed again by securing second place with a time of 23:17. Andy Hunt rounded out the top three, stopping the clock at 24:00.
In the women’s event, Emma Palfrey was first lady home in 25:35. Lois Brewer continued her strong form following her recent second place in the Senior Women’s Welsh Circuit Race Championship, finishing just behind in 25:56. Anita Saycell completed the women’s podium in third.
